Alison Mann

Alison commenced her association with the Queensland Museum when she volunteered as Artefact Registrar on the 1998 and 1999 expeditions to excavate the wreck of HMS Pandora (1791). Quickly following this work she was appointed to the role of Assistant Curator – Maritime Archaeology as a member of the Curatorial team researching and developing exhibits for the Pandora Gallery at the then new Museum of Tropical Queensland.

Following the opening of the MTQ she performed the role of Assistant Curator/ Collection Manager – Pandora Project for 3 years managing this unique collection of maritime archaeological objects.

In 2012 Alison returned to the MTQ as a Volunteer in the Cultures and Histories Program assisting the Conservator and Senior Curator Indigenous Heritage in myriad Collection management projects to support our state collections in the north. Her research interests include artefact classification systems within maritime archaeological collections and online access to the museum collections.
